Merry Meet!

Post by Dystopia on Sat Feb 09, 2008 1:33 pm

OK, I think it`s high time I introduced myself...

Merry Meet, everyone. My name is Dystopia, I will be your new
moderator,..and yet, this is my first post. I know...I suck. The thing
is, I flew in directly from Pagan Mystics, so I forgot about the
introduction formalities. So, for those who don`t know me, here follows:

I have been studying witchcraft for some 6 or 7 years now. I started off with Eclectic wicca, than Reconstruction, and finally found my path to be more of a Christo - Pagan path. It could be said that I`m studying Christianism and Paganism in general, with, perhaps, particular attention to witchcraft. However, my studies don`t stop there, I love reading about other religions, especially Gnosticism, Druidism, Heathenism and Thelema and finding connections and similiarities between them.

I`ve finished Medical Highschool and after that I worked as a pharmacist for a short period. After I have quit the job, I continued studying about herbalism as a hoby.

Apart from my religious studies, I`m a regular
student of English language and literature, and (shockingly) most of my
spare time I spend reading books. I prefer philosophy, existentialism,
naturalism and alike...but a mystery or a Gothic novel can satisfy me

as well. I`m a real bookworm, and I read almost anything I can get my
hands on...oh, except romances.

I think that`s more than enough for beginning...

Looking forward to read all of your posts!

Blessed be, D.

It is nice to meet you Dystopia look forward to many more posts from you, because even though I practise wicca, I like to learn about everything else as well.
I love reading but unforunatly, i'm one of those people that has to have complete silence when I read a book, and I don't get to much of that at home, I am a fan of Steven King and I enjoy the Dragonlance Books, also I just found out there is a book on the Mists Of Avalon, I've seen the movie so now I know there is a book I'm going to try and find it. The books are always better than the movie.

Ay,..that can be a bugger some time. However, my profesion has shaped me in such a way, that you actually need to slap me to get my attention. I completely indulge myself in the book, so I become numb for the outer world....
King is one of my favorite American authors, as well, but I`m stuck with his Black House for 2 months or so. My obligatory literature is wearing me off and just can`t find enough time for reading fiction...

I didn`t see the Mists of Avalon movie, nor did I read the book. I`ve heard the book is a kind of feminist interpretation of The Arthurian legend, so that kinda detered me from reading it...
However, if you do find it, I would like to hear your review...

I guess you could say it's a bit of a feminist interpretation, since it focuses more on his half-sister than it does Arthur. However, it also extends the whole thing a lot. I actually didn't care for it. Something about incestual relationships that result in a child where the mother dies at birth, so the child is raised by the mother's aunt in order to kill its father is just kind of a turnoff for me. (Hopefully that's nto giving too much information. Razz)

LOL! Why, thank you very much, Chandravrika. Now, I don`t have any desire to read it, whatsoever... Razz

Lol. I only got about halfway in I believe, before my mother forced me to watch the movie with her. Afterwards we both decided never to watch it again, and I returned the book to the library without finishing it. =P
